APPRAISAL OF CONSERVATION AREA
APPRAISAL OF CONSERVATION AREA

Officers from Charnwood Borough Council invite residents to a Public Meeting to consider an appraisal of the Conservation Area of the village. The appraisal describes the character and appearance of the Area and the officers would like to hear residents' ideas for ways of enhancing and preserving the Area.
The Conservation Area at present includes the whole of Main Street, Grey Crescent, and Bradgate Road from the centre of the village to the exit from Bradgate Park.
The appraisal is currently in preparation. A draft will be available on the website
www.charnwood.gov.uk in time for the meeting.
The meeting will be on SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 31st JANUARY 2009, 2.30 pm to 4 pm in the VILLAGE HALL.

Somebody is stealing flowers from graves. How despicable is that? If you happen to be at the cemetery on Groby Lane and see someone walking OUT with flowers, rather than coming IN with flowers, could you please let us know. Don't approach them though, we don't want anybody to get hurt!

Dog Poo

A very unsavoury subject, but unfortunately, there are still some people in the village who do not clear up after their dog. Letting your dog foul outside somebody's house, does not mean you can leave it because it was deposited on grass. In fact it makes it even worse, because it can't be easily seen. So be a good citizen, clean up after your canine friend.

Village Design Statement
Village Design Statement

Village Design Statement: I am very pleased to tell you that the Charnwood Cabinet has approved our VDS and from 20th November 2008 it will act as a bona fide Supplementary Planning Guidance Document. It will guide new developments, large and small, so that the settlement pattern, building design, materials and facilities of the parish are respected and enhanced. It is not intended to prevent change, but, rather, to ensure consistency and good quality. The VDS can now be seen on the Charnwood Borough Council website. Click on the left hand banner to read it. There are 38 pages in all with full colour photographs. It makes very interesting reading. There will be a launch party in the New Year which will be well advertised either in the Magazine or on the Noticeboards.

Safety for the Bob Bown Memorial Field
Safety for the Bob Bown Memorial Field

Parish Councillor Virginia Toon recently attended a course at Earl Shilton to learn how to check a play ground for defects and vandalism etc and what to look for in good/safe equipment. She will now regularly inspect the Bob Bown Memorial Field and is seen here being presented with her certificate by Parish Council Chair Ken Waterfall.
