Transport

How many vehicles are there in your household?

Out of 271 responses to this question only seven vehicles are parked on a regular basis on the street. The majority of families have either 2 vehicles (135 or 49%) or 1 vehicle (93 or 34%) parked on their own premises.

Does your household own bicycles?

Slightly more households do not own bicycles (153) than do (147)

Do you want cycle paths in or around the village?

151 families, about 50% of those who responded to the question do not want cycle paths. In contrast 111 families, around 37% do.

Does your family use the local bus services to and from the Parish?

More respondents (61%) never use the bus service than those who do. However 20% use the bus at least once a month and 5% use it weekly. The majority who use the bus indicated they use the Arriva 120. The Arriva 121 Sunday service was used by a few and the school bus service was used by 16 families.

What would motivate your household to make greater use of bus services?

53% of those who never use the bus service indicated that nothing would persuade them to do so. However there is a demand for an evening bus service (59 families), additional routes (48 families) and bus times suitable for commuting (46). The last buses to Newtown Linford from Leicester and Loughborough leave before six in the evening and do not start early enough in the morning.

When asked for comments, respondents asked for a service for the Roecliffe Road/Warren Hill part of the village and a service to Groby. Links to Groby and Glenfield for medical services and hospital visits were requested as well as routes to most other surrounding villages and Fosse Park. A more central stop in Leicester was requested as there is no easy access to the Shires and the railway station.

They also indicated that a more frequent and reliable service was desirable. A few people asked for cheaper fares. A suggestion to have Anstey buses terminating at Bradgate Park would help improve bus access to Anstey and perhaps alleviate car congestion at the park.

If you use bus and taxi services, for what purposes do you use them?

Most people who use the us from the village seem to use it for shopping (39%). Other reasons stated were work, the school run, leisure activities, medical reasons and the railway station, all between 7% and 14%. Most taxis use is for trips to the airport (35%). Taxis are also used for leisure activities (30%), trips to the railway station (16%) and medical reasons (15%).
